- Prof. G. Ram Reddy helped to start major open universities in India. He was the first Vice-Chancellor of Andhra Pradesh Open University and IGNOU. He also served as the Chairman of UGC. Because of his ideas, millions of students in India can study from their homes through Distance Education. Many people call him the Father of Open and Distance Learning in India.
